The project

A facelift became a fresh start.

The initial brief was to refresh the hotel’s website. During the project, a company change brought a bigger change of direction: Albion House Hotel became The House at Ramsgate.

I created the new logo, brand identity and website from scratch. The work needed to introduce the new name while expressing the character of the building, its rooms, restaurant and setting.

The rebranded website launched in January 2026. Alongside the visual work, I built tools for publishing updates, communicating with subscribers and understanding activity on the site.

A new identity.

Logo, branding and a bespoke website developed together.

A clearer invitation.

Individual routes into rooms, dining, offers and events.

A useful working tool.

Publishing and communication tools for the hotel team.

The visual change

From an introduction to an experience.

The previous homepage led with an illustration of the building. The new website brings visitors into the house through film, photography and a visual identity created for the new name.

The comparison below pairs the supplied previous-homepage image with a short recording of the rebuilt website.

Brand and website

The character of the house, carried through every page.

I designed the logo and brand identity alongside the website, rather than fitting the new name into the old presentation. The result is a bespoke visual language for The House at Ramsgate.

Hero videos introduce the atmosphere of the property. Dedicated pages give rooms, dining and celebrations their own space, while typography, imagery and navigation keep the experience connected.

The work behind the website

Less preparation before every update.

A hotel website changes throughout the year. Events, special offers and fresh photographs need to be published as the business changes.

I added bespoke optimisation and image-conversion plugins to automate routine preparation and make editing easier for staff. The aim was to make maintaining the website part of the working day, with fewer separate technical tasks around each update.

Keep the website current.

  1. Add the latest offer or event.

Staff can update the content that gives guests a reason to return.

  2. Let the supporting tools handle routine preparation.

Custom image conversion and optimisation reduce repetitive work when adding media.

  3. Build on the same foundation.

Additional modules can be developed as the hotel’s needs change.

Guest communication

Keep the audience. Bring the newsletter into the website.

I transferred the existing subscribers from Wix and integrated a newsletter system into the website. The team can now send updates to its customers from the same place it manages its web content.

Seasonal offers, events and news can reach people who already know the hotel, with a sending setup suited to its regular campaigns.

≈ £30 per month

Two or three newsletters a month with the current setup.

Approximate monthly sending cost reported for this project. It describes this hotel’s current usage, not a fixed price for every newsletter system.

The practical change is control: the hotel keeps its subscriber audience and can communicate regularly through its integrated system.

Technical foundations

Built to be found. Designed to stay manageable.

Search and AI discovery.

SEO and LLM optimisation form part of the build, helping search engines and AI tools understand the hotel and its content.

Performance.

Custom optimisation and media-handling tools support a fast website as staff add content and offers.

Cookieless statistics.

On-site analytics provide visibility into website activity without relying on tracking cookies.

These foundations support the day-to-day work of running the site. They sit alongside the visual design, rather than becoming a separate task for hotel staff after every update.

Ongoing development

Familiar workflows. A system shaped around the hotel.

In development

I am now building a bespoke booking and hotel/restaurant management system. The team previously used eviivo, so familiar working patterns are central to the transition.

The intention is to preserve the workflows staff already know, while making the system more flexible and specific to this hotel.

A familiar working day.

Build around the reservation and management routines the team is used to.

Direct payment handling.

Enable the hotel team to take payments themselves within the new setup.

Room to adapt.

Tailor the software and add modules as the hotel and restaurant need them.

This is the next phase of the project. The bespoke management system and its transition are still in development.
