Selected work / Maddings
A new identity and a complete website rebuild for Maddings. Food, table requests and private events brought together around the way people plan a visit.
Visit the website ↗Why rebuild?
Maddings had a simple website, but it did not properly represent the food, the setting or the different reasons people might visit. The business also needed a way to receive table and rotisserie booking requests.
I rebuilt the branding alongside the website. The aim was to give the restaurant a more complete online presence, with clear routes from discovering the food to contacting the team.

Dedicated pages explain the menu, Sunday roast, rotisserie and private venue hire.
Booking requests and enquiries go to the team by email, as the client wanted.
Brand and presentation
The rebuild gives Maddings room to show its personality. The refreshed branding, video and photography introduce the experience, while the navigation gives visitors clear starting points.

A practical working day
The client wanted bookings and enquiries to arrive by email. I built the website around that preference, with routes for table requests, rotisserie bookings and private events.
The table form collects contact details, the preferred date and time, party size and notes. The website makes it clear that the team will get in touch to confirm the request.
This keeps the conversation with Maddings. A request gives staff the information they need to respond, without asking them to adopt a payment or notification system before they are ready.
Look closer ↗Pages with a purpose
I suggested and built individual pages for the things people come to Maddings for: table bookings, rotisserie, venue hire, what’s on and Sunday roast. These are now among its most popular pages, alongside the menu.
Each page gives visitors more relevant information before they contact the restaurant. Someone planning a private event needs a different introduction from someone choosing where to eat on Sunday.
Menu, Sunday roast and rotisserie pages help diners explore what is available and take the next step.
A dedicated venue page introduces the space and asks for the occasion, guest numbers and preferred date.
Events and seasonal updates give returning visitors fresh reasons to come back.
Look closer ↗Reported project results
The rebuilt website gives search visitors pages that answer specific questions about eating, booking and celebrating at Maddings. Following the rebuild, the business began receiving substantially more local enquiries.
4,000+
Up from a few hundred monthly page views before the rebuild.
50%+
Previously, search accounted for around 1-2% of traffic.
The menu leads the reported page popularity. Table bookings, rotisserie, venue hire, what’s on and Sunday roast are also among the most visited pages.
Reported project figures. Page views count pages viewed, rather than individual visitors or confirmed bookings.
Future options
Online payments, newsletters and mobile notifications were discussed during the project. The client chose to postpone them and start with email-based enquiries.
Those remain possible future additions. They are not part of the current delivered setup.
The website already provides the core tools Maddings asked for: a stronger identity, a fuller presentation of the restaurant, an editable menu with QR access, and routes for guests to make contact.
